BUSINESS EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY: Business education is a planned educational process that includes knowledge, concepts, and skills that will benefit all students in becoming productive workers, informed consumers, competent users of technology, and responsible citizens. It should be an integral part of the education of every student.

WELCOME TO COMPUTER APPLICATIONS I where you will learn Keyboarding/Word Processing & PowerPoint.  You have made a good course selection. You will find in years to come that word processing is an invaluable skill to possess. Computer applications class is a BUSINESS EDUCATION course; therefore, we will maintain a business-like atmosphere. A positive behavior will carry you a long way. Positive behaviors are things such as:

Being Prompt

Being Positive

Being Prepared

Being Polite

Being Productive

Negative behavior that is not allowed in the business atmosphere includes:

  •  Being loud and disruptive

  •  Leaving your workstation without permission

  •  Being disrespectful to ANYONE in the room

  •  Abusive language

During the course of the year, students enrolled will be learning to use the keyboard by touch. And basic Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint.

 SUPPLIES:         1 Ream of copy paper per semester and 1 4G flash drive.

GENERAL RULES AND GRADING POLICY

  • Students will be expected to use the restroom and get a drink before class starts.
  • Students should be on time to class.
  • Students will be expected to listen and follow directions the first time they are given; they may or may not be repeated.
  • Cell phones are NOT ALLOWED, WHAT SO EVER! iF FOUND USING ONE, IT WILL BE CONFISCATED AND TAKEN TO MR. HARMON IMMEDIATELY
  • No headphones or ear buds of any kind allowed in the classroom.
  • Stay in your assigned seat at all times during the  period
  • At the end of each period, students should have all work saved on their flash drive and the computer ready for the next period.
  • When the bell rings at the end of the period, students are expected to make sure the area around their computer is clean.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO GUM, CANDY, FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE ROOM.
  • Name must be computer generated on papers to receive credit for work
  • Anyone misusing or abusing computers will be re-assigned to different class.
  • You will not be allowed to be taken out of class by a fellow student.
  • No student is allowed in or behind my desk without my permission
  • Remember to correctly save your work on the computer-if an assignment is lost because you forgot to save it, you will have to re-do it.
  • Make up work should be turned in according to handbook guidelines

CONSEQUENCES:

1st offense - warning

2nd offense - detention assigned through the principal's office and parents will be contacted

GRADING POLICY:

Daily work counts one time in the grade book.

Quizzes count twice in the grade book.

Tests count three times in the grade book.
